Built during the latter half of the 17th century and renovated during the Georgian period, Mulberry House is one of several charming buildings in the tranquil, charming village of Wedmore, Somerset. It retains many of its period features, including sash windows with window shutters, period coving and traditional fireplaces.
This large period house is a Grade II listed property, which means that any home improvements or alterations made to it must abide by Listed Building Regulations. Although the property enjoyed extensive renovation around ten years ago, some of the white-painted sash windows still needed replacing.
Refurbishing and replacing timber sash windows
The current owners contacted Wessex Restoration to upgrade their existing period windows. Last October we draught-proofed and refurbished existing sash windows in the property, to keep their home snug over winter. Our craftsmen are also in the process of creating two identical new double glazed sash windows to be fitted this spring in place of ill-fitting casement windows.
We’ve had some great feedback already from the owners, who say they were “extremely impressed with the high level of joinery expertise and knowledge” and that they have been “thrilled with the results”!
